Lainey's Daddy

June 2006--Lainey, 5 months old
Lainey's has a daddy who loves her very much. When she was first born, Dad was the first one who got to hold her. Lainey was crying, but the second she heard his voice she settled down. He was there for her first bath and even picked out the bows for the nurse to glue on her head. Dad and Lainey bonded over late night feeds during those first two months.
Lainey loves to show things she made to her dad and tell him about her day when he gets home from work. They love to play chase games with one another. She'll tell me throughout the day, "Lainey misses Daddy." She loves him so much!
When Lainey was first diagnosed, I was very stressed about getting up in the night to check her sugar. I don't fall asleep easily, nor do I stay asleep easily. So when I do actually sleep, those are precious minutes to me. Dustin saw my stress and came to the rescue by offering to do the nighttime sugar checks. He's done about 90 percent of them over the last 2 years. He's the one who gets her through those occasional nighttime lows and he does very well.
Yep, Lainey has one special Daddy.

That picture is priceless. Lainey has the love of Daddy look on her face, even as tiny as she is!

My husband also handles the night time stuff for those exact reasons. He's a super star in my book. I love to hear about other husbands who step it up!
