Comforting Words

Okay, I'd like to think that most (if not all) of us in the D community are Christians. If not, I apologize up front if I've offended any of you with this post. It's not my intention. I just wanted to express my belief that, in some of my darkest hours, I know God is there for me.

The year 2007 was...well a year of emotional lows to say the least. Let me summarize: Lainey was diagnosed with type 1 in February; I learned in April that the baby I was carrying had severe health problems and may not survive; in May and June I was back and forth to Utah for doctors appointments, hearing the worst case scenarios; in July Libby was born with brain and heart problems, but was alive; from August to November we practically lived at Primary Children's, watching my baby go through and recovering from 4 surgeries in order to say alive. Anyway...you get the picture. I had many dark hours during that year.

Sometime during that year, my mom gave me a magnet that had the words of a church hymn on it. Those words brought me so much comfort, I can't even explain it. Let me share some of the words of that hymn:

Fear not, I am with thee;
oh, be not dismayed,
For I am thy God
and will still give thee aid.
I'll strengthen thee,
help thee,
and cause thee to stand...

Today we sang that hymn in church.

And after two years, I still can't sing that hymn without crying.

Beautiful post.

Isaiah 41:10 (King James Version)

10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

PS -- We missed you for the D Mom chat tonight. :)

Well said.

I love how God speaks to us through music. I can't hear the song, "You Never Let Go" without crying.

Unfortunately, our church's worship band sings it a lot. Not really unfortunately, but you know what I mean.

That was very heartfelt and beautiful. I had no idea Libby had been through so much. What a terrible time you must have faced. Thank heavens for a God that loves us and knows us, and hears our prayers. Your a wonderful mother, I can tell.
