Diabetes Camp Day 1

Lainey's team table: The Celtics. She was given a purple backpack and a pink water bottle. There are 4 girls and 2 volunteers on The Celtics. One of the girls is a sibling of one of the diabetic kids. Maybe next year Libby can stay and participate with Lainey.

One of the volunteers is a nurse, named Isabel, and the other, Ky, has had diabetes for 10 years. Lainey is in very good hands. She has to wear her camp shirt everyday.

The kids have very structured activities. There are about 35 kids participating in the camp and they are divided into groups of 5, with 2 volunteers per group.

Jeannee, Judy, and Sue
They are the diabetic educators in charge of the camp. They began the morning helping the kids learn a camp song. The dog puppet is the camp's mascot.

The kids made beaded necklaces, colored, and threw water balloons. There are snack times, sugar check times, insulin dosage times, bathroom times, and wash hands times.

After lunch some clowns came to entertain the kids.

Lainey asked the clown to paint pink flowers on her arm.
